Introduction to HKTCA

Established in November 1997, the Hong Kong Treble Choirs' Association was founded by internationally renowned choral conductor, currently the 1st Vice President of International Federation for Choral Music, Prof. Leon Shiu-wai Tong and experienced educator Mr. Ka-ki Lee

. It is a registered charitable art organisation with the mission to promote Hong Kong's children and youth singing and music education; to bring harmony to every family; to strengthen the connection among choirs and to encourage international cultural exchange.



Promote choral arts via different kind of activities
The Association has also organised successful international events such as three China International Children's Choir Festivals & World Symposiums on Children's Choral Music, 2005 World Children's Choir Festival and the biennial Hong Kong International Youth & Children's Choir Festival (HKIYCCF). The 2005 World Children's Choir Festival not only presented the world-famous Songbridge Concert, it was also selected by RTHK as one of the 2005 Top Ten Music Headlines. In 2007, it has invited Les Petits Chanteurs de Saint-Marc from Lyon to perform seven concerts in fours cities, which has brought enchanting choral music to the public. In November 2007, Club for Five, a famous Finnish a cappella group was invited to give the concert in Hong Kong. In 2008, HKTCA has present 2008 HKIYCCF, World Youth Choir concert and Mädchenchor Hannover Girls Choir concert in Hong Kong. Particularly, for 2008 HKIYCCF, concerts had been recorded and broadcasted all around the world by Phoenix Satellite Television and 5 other television channels reaching more than 20 million audiences.
Cultivate local choral music professional
Aimed at raising the choral standard of Hong Kong, HKTCA also focus on cultivating local choral music talents. Activities such as study tour, choir workshop tour, master class, music camp and composition competition had been presented by HKTCA in the past. The Association has furnished the Choral Music Information Centre with the subsidies from the Hong Kong Arts Development Council, which has become a resourceful reference for music teachers and professionals. The Information Centre keeps a number of scores, CDs and periodicals. It also introduces various pieces to the members.
Fruitful result was assured by the society
Activities held by HKTCA were fully supported by International Federation for Choral Music, Leisure and Cultural Services Department, and The Hong Kong Arts Development Council. For some particular activities, such as 2005 World Children Choir Festival, Hong Kong International Youth and Children’s Choir Festival and World Youth Choir concert, they are sponsored and supported by The Jockey Club Charities Trust, Quality Education Fund, Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups, Composers and Authors Society of Hong Kong and Glorious Sun Group etc. Besides, concerts were broadcasted to the public all around the world by Phoenix TV, ATV, Radio Television and Hong Kong. In 2008, HKTCA was award the Arts Promotion Award by Hong Kong Arts Development Council.
